Boris Trail

[Mark Trail , March 28, 2016.]

There must be some way out of here, as the poet said. But there’s no way to unsee Mark’s sudden resemblance to Frankenstein’s monster. Cave . . . bad. Escape . . . good.

Have they been eating? Probably eating bats and spiders?

There was a brief discussion of cave crickets, but no food has passed their lips. Keep in mind though that Trail-time bears no relation to ordinary time. Nearly two months in a cave might amount to a few hours in the real world, just as a telephone conversation that runs for weeks in Mary Worth might run ten minutes in the real world.

For what it's worth, Mark Trail, knowing that some people call cave crickets "Land Shrimp" does not make them more appetizing.

Also, if it has only been a few hours, why is Mark already trying to convince people to eat cave crickets?

Land Shrimp! Ha!

I think James Allen was just trying to put some “nature” in the strip. There’s also a discussion about glow-in-the-dark algae on the cave walls. Mark and company are in the southwest checking on bats. They ran into the cave when a smuggler (of people) began shooting at them. If that doesn’t sell you on this strip, I don’t what will.

Their clothes seem very tight. I don't think I could stoop down in those jeans. (They all seem to have big behinds, too. They can live off the stored fat if they do not want to eat 'land shrimp.'

Good news: they’ve seen daylight, so maybe they’ll be soon be out, with no decline in the cricket population.
