Nabokov seems to have imagined — if only as a horrible pipedream — the end of the classroom and the rise of something MOOC-like. Phonograph records and televisions for all!

  1. It's not really relevant, but this made me think of the movie "Educating Rita." When she first starts her education, she is asked "How would you solve the staging difficulties of the Ibsen play 'Peer Gynt'?" Her answer: "Put it on the radio."
