[1507-03 Boardwalk West, Coney Island, Brooklyn, c. 1939–1941. From the NYC Municipal Archives Collections. Click for a much larger view.]
I happened upon this photograph by chance. I’m posting it in memory of my dad and mom, who first met on the boardwalk.
Click for the large view and you’ll see the diver.

Looks like general outdoor advertising company. A modern looking billboard
Yep. The clean, modern design is what struck me. And then the man walking so close to the buildings.
What a great story, knowing where and when your folks first met. I wish mine were around so I could ask them.
I learned so much of what I know of my parents’ lives late in the game. True fact: my mom almost didn’t go to Coney Island that day, because she had a cold. But I don’t know the year. Maybe 1953?
