Also should add that for Medicare communications, CMS requires 12-point Times New Roman or equivalent. 12-point Garamond wouldn't be equivalent (maybe 13?).
Garamond 13 is larger, but 12.5 is pretty close. I still want to know more about the Robinson and Wrigglesworth experiment: there the samples appear to be the same size, and Garamond used less ink than Times New Roman.

Interesting stuff there. When my children were younger, they created a very silly (and frequently appearing) one-page newspaper, The Garamond News.
