A sad retronym

It occurred to me yesterday that “the open Internet” is a retronym for what once was “the Internet.”

  1. Recently writer/blogger Seth Godin did a piece on why the internet is now less open to blogs—Oh, I despise tech oligarchs. Here's his link: https://seths.blog/2026/06/blogs-traffic-and-google/

  2. Great link. I should start reading him again.

Things never were the same after the end of Google Reader. But I like what Seth says somewhere: that he would be writing and posting every day even if no one showed up.
