I heard it for the first time a few days in a Chase Bank commercial: “Welcome in!” How strange. But it’s a thing — a strange thing, I’d say. I have yet to hear it in real life.

We moved from LA to Ventura County in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, and noticed that most everywhere I went I was greeted with "Welcome in!" I thought it was just a local thing, but I guess not.
My daughter lived in LA from 2009 to 2023 and never heard it. My son, in Boston since 2011, has never heard it. But as the link suggests, it’s widespread.
And as everyone in downstate Illinois says, Enjoy the rest of your day!
