“Who are we as a country?”

"Busy old fool, unruly sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows and through curtains call on us?
Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run?
Saucy pedantic wretch, go chide
Late school boys and sour prentices,
Go tell court huntsmen that the king will ride,
Call country ants to harvest offices;
Love, all alike, no season knows nor clime,
Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time."
“Saucy pedantic wretch” is one of my favorite epithets. Thanks for reminding us all of these great lines, Stefan.
Here, it's Spring! Had our earliest-ever asparagus cutting (4 stalks) and my redbud is about to bloom. Sympathies to all the states still struggling with wintry conditions (and the thaw!) Ohio is under water...
Thanks, Elaine. It’s pretty tolerable here. Hooray for asparagus!
