I don’t know how I remembered that.

Martha, no, just a plastic casing. I don’t think I could bear the veiled fat. : )

Michael Leddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05547732736861224886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343608.post-37566970516316284952015-02-05T18:35:24.095-06:002015-02-05T18:35:24.095-06:00Your post set me to thinking about - and salivatin...Your post set me to thinking about - and salivating for - liverwurst. I stopped at the best deli in town to see what they had and bought a few slices. So disappointed! The liverwurst was slightly bitter, which suggests the liver was from a geriatric cow. But, with a good slathering of German mustard and an excellent kosher dill, I finished a couple of slices. No beer this time, though.

Now I've added 'find the perfect liverwurst' to my ever expanding bucket list.

Glad yours was elegant, an odd choice of words to describe finely ground organ meat in a less than natural casing. Unless...?! Did yours come bound with the veil fat from around the kidneys?! (Finally remembered what that was.)

Wait! If so, don't tell me. I don't think I could bear the envy. The Crowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04846997590157958766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343608.post-91387032158917669842015-02-05T18:14:40.441-06:002015-02-05T18:14:40.441-06:00Ooooh, writing on butcher paper. My dad also got suet at the butcher's for the birds — if I recall right, most of the time they gave it to him for the asking.Slywyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01424323662407341123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343608.post-16908352398756098302015-02-05T12:38:27.926-06:002015-02-05T12:38:27.926-06:00LOL. It’s an elegant liverwurst, I guess, made by Heinkel’s in nearby Decatur. I will buy it again, for sure.Michael Leddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05547732736861224886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343608.post-8147128445794414722015-02-05T11:40:02.129-06:002015-02-05T11:40:02.129-06:00Please, please describe the liverwurst. Please, please describe the liverwurst. The Crowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04846997590157958766noreply@blogger.com
