(And something in me strongly objects to the borrowing from Shakespeare to invent a title.) There's also the revision of the revision of the Scott Montcrieff translation, which I've seen only in a sealed "six-pack" in a bookstore. So the Lydia Davis translation is all I've read -- I just had a better feeling about the new Proust. Once I really make some headway, I'm sure I'll be dipping into the others.

I learned today that a friend is reading Proust in French and is on Volume Five. At least I'm in third place. : )Michael Leddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05547732736861224886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343608.post-1151182389914018182006-06-24T15:53:00.000-05:002006-06-24T15:53:00.000-05:00Michael -- have you read the other translations? ...Michael -- have you read the other translations? Do you have a favorite?

I'm on vol. 3, but you're seeming likely to pass me up.

all best,

--trhthalkowskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17077912945095370347noreply@blogger.com
